We had the delicious pleasure of stopping by their pop-up kitchen at Dandelion Chocolates in San Francisco over the 4th of July weekend and got the inside scoop from chef and co-owner Christian King as well as indulging in a few of their items.
Our inner child came alive as we sunk our teeth into one of their signature items, the oh-so delicious and decadent Moustache-O. Their version of milk’s favorite cookie is made up of soft, chewy and slightly salty chocolate cookie and sweet and creamy filling of Venezuelan chocolate whipped ganache. From under the lip of the cavernous cookie, the fluffy mocha colored filling peeks out to gently say hello. Every sticky bite will create a chill of excitement up and down your spine as you realize just how exquisite this cookie creation is. Pair this with a glass of milk or a fresh roasted cup of coffee and relax as your taste buds take you on journey back to your childhood.
We could not resist a cupcake and chose The Miller, which is Meyer lemon olive oil cake filled with lemon curd and topped with Meyer lemon cream frosting. With locally sourced lemons from Dry Creek Peach and Produce, this cupcake is a beautiful tribute to local farmers and the beloved Meyer Lemon which is native to China and a cross between a lemon and a tangerine. The delicate and floral flavor of the Meyer Lemon is intensified with the moist olive oil cake and yields a refreshing flavor that is irresistible.
Simple pleasure is found in their Open-Faced S’more, which consists of a soft and chewy graham biscuit topped with their whipped Venezuelan ganache and a toasted organic vanilla marshmallow–homemade, of course. Less is more and this sweet little number showcases three flavors that truly complement each and make for an enjoyable experience. Biting into this is truly orgasmic, as the luscious ganache and sticky marshmallow remind of simple pleasures and will give you chills of culinary delight.
Farm fresh macarons are another signature item with crowd pleasing flavors such as pistachio, passion fruit, ginger cardamom and meyer lemon. We opted for their Earl Grey which brilliantly accentuates the timeless flavor of Earl Grey tea in this gorgeous macaron.
